Connestee Falls Scholarship Pickleball Tournament Attracts Over 130 Players and Raises Over $12,000

The Connestee Falls Mountain Picklers held their annual Pickleball Tournament from September 21-23 at their dedicated courts in the pickleball complex. This was the seventh year for the tournament that has capitalized on the growing popularity of pickleball to help fund college scholarships for deserving students in Transylvania County. More than 130 players participated in the event, over half of whom traveled here from outside of Transylvania County.

With some excellent cooperation from mother nature, the games went on without a hitch, crowning Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles champions in ten different skill level categories. More importantly, over $12,000 was raised for student scholarships. In the words of Tournament Director Deb Richter, “With the efforts of so many volunteers, this was the most successful tournament yet in terms of fundraising as well as excellent competition and lots of fun. We are already looking forward to next year to broaden exposure to our precious corner of Western North Carolina.”
