Pickleball Season Opens with Potluck Supper & Planning Meeting

The 2017 pickleball season officially opened with a potluck supper and planning meeting at Atagahi Park. The get together was organized by our pickleball committee and Deb Richter. The excellent turnout was a reflection of the keen interest generated by pickleball here in Connestee Falls.

After a delicious smorgasbord of food provided by attendees, the planning meeting began with a discussion of the 2017 Connestee Falls Scholarship Tournament tournament tentatively scheduled for September 21-23. The tournament Director, Deb Richter, emphasized the need for volunteers to support the event. A minimum of 20 volunteers will be required and they will have to make a commitment now to preclude a cancellation of the tournament. Sign up sheets for specific volunteer tasks were provided by Deb. Players who didn't attend the meeting can contact Deb at 828-877-2543 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to offer their help.

After Deb, members of the pickleball committee - Kathy Cordier, Liz Fleming, Doug Balne, Tom McMurray, and Bill Buchler - spoke briefly about a number of items including plans to add two new courts in 2018, the status of our funds and items that will be added to the 2018 budget, and some important rules and regulations related to court use.
